Mister Smartypants Observationalist....

So mister is now 3 and as chatty as any little 3 year old boy can be i might add. He will tell you things you didn't know about already as well as things that he thinks are much more important than your current conversation you are having. We are learning more and more that this little munchkin is a smarty. He is so observant and a great problem solver.

One afternoon Edison sneezed and proclaimed that he needed a tissue so he ran to the bathroom and ran back out instantly proclaiming," There isn't any more tissue!" So dad told him, "well go get toilet paper then" So after a few minutes he returns, nose all wiped up. Later on that afternoon Conrad goes into the bathroom remembering he needs to replace the empty Kleenex box and comes out laughing and tells me to come look. This is what we saw...
Little guy decided to add more to the empty Kleenex box so there would be some for someone else who needed it.

He also is such an observer. My cousins and aunt and uncle bought him a Jake and the Neverland Pirates toy which is his favorite show and as he opened the gift he started ripping off the wrapping and only came across a tiny piece of the symbol and Lettering; he is 3 remember, he instantly screams out, "ITS JAKE!!!!" This is all he saw was this little  corner of this picture on the box:
One morning when I was getting ready to leave for work, my dad had just shown up to watch him for me and I was pulling my hair back into a hair tie and Edison looks at me with a confused look and says, "Mamma, what happened to your hair?" My dad smiled and said, " She has a  pony tail." Edison looks at my butt and then back at my dad and said in a stern voice, "She does not have a pony tail."
That same day my dad and Edison were playing and he brought over a temporary tattoo and thought Edison would like it but told him that he needed to ask mom first. Edison responded, "Oh its ok papa all my family has tattoos." :) Here is his temporary tattoo which he is proud of :)

He has such a way of putting a smile on our faces. And man do we have a smarty pants on our hands!

Edison is 3!

I will apologize now for this blog being lengthy but I have good reasons :) I am posting a day early for Edison's Birthday tomorrow. I am sure I will be busy with festivals at home with our little man and wont remember to post! I am so baffled how quickly time has flown by! The little DARK haired baby boy who came 3 days late is turning 3 tomorrow! We have been through so many adventures with this little guy and I cannot wait to have more with him! Edison has really helped Conrad and I grow up so much in the last 3 years! I can at least see a transformation in Conrad every time he interacts with his little mini me! And I know for myself I have learned to be come more compassionate of other mothers out there, not be quick to judge, and every day find joy no matter how rotten it seems to be going. I know we say we didn't expect to have a baby right away into our marriage but I know I would not change it for the world! He is literally the light of my life! He does say some of the most random and funny things too, that is just how he is! He came to me one morning when I was still waking up, took my face in his little hands and looked me in the eyes and said in such a sweet innocent voice," Momma, You look like a monster." Conrad busted out laughing, I just responded with," do I now" :)

I can remember when he got so so sick at only 6 months old and we actually had to spend the night in the hospital because his oxygen levels were low and he didn't seem to be getting better. I was scared to death that we were not going to be bringing our little angel home. For any parent having your child so sick in a hospital bed and feel SO unbelievably helpless to helping them is the worst feeling in the whole universe!!

But as you obviously know he is all better and his fully energetic little guy, keeping mom and dad on their toes 24/7 and I am thankful every day for his little quirks he brings to the table :) He loves to sing, dance, imaginative play with just about anything, and enjoys reading! He is also going to be such a stubborn head and in a good way. He is so high energy too that kids don't know what to do with him lol :) Dad and I have been trying to monitor that though because it has been a problem here and there when it comes to other kids. He gets so frustrated when people aren't playing with him or keeping up and he gets aggressive so we constantly tell him, play nice! Don't get into peoples faces, and don't hit, no biting. Say Please and Thank you. You know those kinds of parenting things you do with your kids :) I guess we have been saying it so much lately that now even when he is with Grandma and Grandpa he knows! Grandpa Tom said that they were in First Bank and he was playing in the kids area and Grandpa Tom was watching him and He would announce, "I'm playing nice!" and he did this a few more times and the final time he ran up to him and said, " I'm playing nice papa" lol

Its of comfort knowing he gets it. I know there are times when he will just not listen but he knows when he is in trouble. His Home Day Care, Janae, watches him because like most little boys his age, there is always that rough housing part of them, and when he does hit and he knows he wasn't supposed to, Janae said she actually finds him putting himself in timeout. lol

This little guy, well I should say little man now, Is growing so much and way to quickly! Cannot wait to see what this next year brings us!

Oh my little mister knows how to make a room smile! When attention is not on him, he has to interject by repeatedly saying, "hey! hey! hey! hey!" And once he has your attention he will tell you the most extravagant story about anything and everything having to do with absolutely nothing relevant. Just the other night Conrad and I were talking about our days when Edison proclaimed that he was fighting monsters with Buzz Light-year and chasing them with flash lights while jumping off his bed. He proclaimed that he chased them out of our room too so we didn't need to be scared because they were gone now.

The most entertaining thing now is to ask him why he is grumpy when he is not happy in the moment. He will proclaim with a stern voice, "Because I am okay?!" So giggling to myself I watch him and sit quiet hoping for a moment when I can make him smile. In a particular moment on Monday driving back from a long day in Denver, he didn't want anyone making any noise for any reason but only wanted to hear himself. He even got quite frustrated at one point because I was singing and he did not give me permission to do so. Then in complete silence he starts saying, "Ding-dong. Ding-dong, Ding-dong" repeatedly so I decided to see if I could spark a little smile on his face and asked, "Who's there? Come in!" At that moment he turned to me with a strait grumpy looking face and said," I am not a door." I could not contain myself. I started laughing as did everyone in the car. Then he instantly changed his mood and laughed too.

There are the little moments and things he does that make my heart melt too. Conrad wasn't feeling the best on Sunday afternoon and Edison kept asking why. When I told him we had to be quiet and let Daddy sleep he did so. A moment later I realize he was a little too quiet which meant he was usually up to something. I called for him and he didn't answer so I went looking for him and sure enough he was in our room on the bed and this is what I heard, " Dear Jesus, help daddy to feel better and not be sick. Help him keep safe when he drives. And Dear Jesus, help daddy to be better so he can feel happy. Amen." I smiled and as did Conrad. And you know what, he did feel better because our little guy knew just how to make him feel a little less icky :)

Oh my Edison....

Edison will be 3 next month on the 28th and  I do not know where time has gone! When he was born I was the happiest person on the face of the earth! Sure the labor was intense; the drugs they promised would work didn't fully work, Conrad almost passing out on me was interesting, and sure my body will never be the same but I would not trade having him for anything in the whole universe. He is my world! He slept through the night like a little angel! I was truly blessed! couldn't ask for more! I was truly terrified I would have a screaming little bundle like my parents said I was for them but nope, he was as peaceful as ever.
This little munchkin has had his boy moments for sure. When we first started potty training him and we tried to really get into it, I can remember him running through the house fascinated by all the different things he could rub up on simple because he was a free bird! lol disturbing as that sounds, I laughed so hard while trying to tell him no! :) Then he has moments when he is just so peaceful and will sit in his room, with all sorts of books spread across his bed reading them aloud to himself and his stuffed animals.
People will tell me how well mannered he is and I just smile and say, oh this is his good moments because he is so full of energy I am convinced I cursed myself giving him the middle name "Chase". When people ask, "how did you drop the weight so fast after having Edison?" I say, " I keep up with him that's how!" There is truly never a dull moment with him.
Not to mention he is very observant. When sitting at a stop light one hot afternoon, he was looking out the window at a particular individual and asked me, " momma, why is that lady not wearing a shirt?" This particular lady he asked about was standing on the corner with daisy duke shorts and a bikini top on. I giggled and answered, s"she has her swim suit on sweety." but he replied, "but why doesn't she want to wear a shirt?"
I cannot wait to bring in a sibling for this guy because I know he would be the best big brother out there. Watching him play with other kids, both older and younger, and watching him interact with babies melts my heart. His friend Kaden just had a little sister enter their family and now every time he thinks about baby Aubrey, he proclaims to anyone who will listen, "My momma is going to have a baby sister for me."  And just so you know, I am not pregnant lol
I cannot wait to watch my little man grow up and become such an amazing human being! I am already so much in love with him and my love for him will continue to grow. He knows how to make me smile and I never want to see that bright blue eyed smile dim as he goes through life. I will try to post more Edison stories as they come to be. He is my source of entertainment that is for sure!

Until Next time!
